This isn’t the first time the game has received surprise content years after its release. Astro’s Playroom threw an in-game Astro Bot party to celebrate the latter’s global launch. We know you’ve just got your brand new PS5 console and you’re probably excited to experience all that it has to offer.

This is an unmistakable reference to Final Fantasy VII for the PS1, released in 1997 by Square Enix. In particular, the use of the Buster Sword under a spotlight makes this is a reference to the game’s title screen. Players can use weapons, such as plunger arrows and a pellet gun which shoots coloured balls, to destroy objects and defeat enemies. The player can also whack robots, including robot-like animals, with hands or weapons.

Astro’s Playroom is as old as the PlayStation 5, and this is most likely the first game new owners booted up. Despite being a brief experience, this is the kind of game that can be played with family members and is worth playing in 2025. Sony Interactive Entertainment finally nailed the platforming genre, and it only took a cute little robot to give them the courage to innovate. Another display you can unlock for the Labo area is a sign with the Sony Interactive Entertainment logo which, if punched three times, will drop down and reveal the Sony Computer Entertainment logo.

Just a few days ago, we added a second Special Bot, Selene, from the PS5 title Returnal. Once again, working together, you were able to crack the riddle and free her to make it 2 out of 4. This will complete the challenge, unlocking the Ape Escape Special Bot and earning you the No Escape! If this is your final Special Bot to unlock, you’ll also get the Four the Players Trophy. Throw the cannister with the net inside at the blue aura when the lock-on symbol appears to reveal the Special Bot.

My favorite track overall, however, was the SSD Speedway, featuring sounds that match the game’s presentation perfectly. The final neat feature of Astro’s Playroom is the Network Speed Run challenge levels. You can do normal platforming challenge levels with Astro or ones focused on each suit to earn the best times. But it’s not all suits and colorful levels to enjoy, there’s also a mountain of collectibles to find that tug on the nostalgic heartstrings of any PlayStation fan.

Tearaway is also references in the PlayStation Labo area, where it’s on the PlayStation Vita Game Pack artwork, and the Vita itself will boot to “Botaway” if you hit it. It is worth mentioning that if you accidentally die by picking up an earlier piece of the puzzle, its place will be replaced by a transparent piece of the puzzle. Also, all coins and coin containers are renewed after your rebirth or after starting the level anew. If you want to own all the collectibles in the game, you’ll need up to 6,000 coins to win prizes in the PlayStation Lab’s prize draw machine.

Being cheeky robots ourselves, we thought it would be fun to turn this into a treasure hunt riddle and see how long it would take anyone to figure it out. What a big surprise to see it took the community less than 3 hours to clear that riddle. If you have missed it, here is a quick rundown of what you have to do.We hid a secret capsule in the first area of GPU Jungle (Render Forest). To make it appear, you must stand on top of a big plant near the edge of the level, just behind the Bloodborne Hunter Bot.

Astro’s Playroom guide contains a detailed walkthrough for the game. We described the trophies, controls, and the most important aspects of the game. It’s a fun platformer with some of the best controls and is accessible to everyone who owns a PlayStation 5. With an experience like this, it’s no wonder that Astro Bot has a devoted following so much that a full-length game is coming soon.

Land inside the box here and then spring out to get the PS Move Sharp Shooter. Land on the next switch to the left to lower some more platforms above. Jump up the platforms to the top, but keep an eye out on the top-left to spot Puzzle Piece #2.

You can hold the touchpad button down to bring yourself to a stop on the ice. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – In this same pinball area, knock out the 6 bowling pin enemies around the center bumper to make this puzzle piece appear. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – In the first pinball area, roll into the spot on the back left to get boosted to a rail with this puzzle piece at the end. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – Back on the main path, you then ride a circuit board through an area with electric rail obstacles. Midway through you can find this puzzle piece, basically right in your way. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – After the checkpoint where you slide down a slope, this puzzle piece is to the right across the grey quicksand.

The PS5 launched on November 12, and we’ve compiled GameSpot’s console and game reviews in one place so you can make a purchasing decision. From console exclusives to third-party hits, the PS5’s library is full of great games. I have never seen any of the so called ‘issues’ they keep talking about while playing – all I see is a generally better, more detailed image quality, that often far surpasses other upscalers. The difference is often smaller when standing still, and far greater when moving. @Froggydarren I have been watching DF reviews for a long time now, and still find their framerate analysis to be a god send as anything much less than locked 60fps makes me feel ill – literally.

Astro is a cute little robot that runs, hops, and flies across colorful worlds – each based on different components of the PS5. You splash around in the cooling unit, soar through the SSD, and explore the GPU forest. Like other mascot platformers, you also need to collect things along the way, some of which are floating in plain sight while others require some minor effort to obtain.

The game came bundled with a dance mat, but could also be played using a controller. 789win of the rewards in the Gacha game is a Bot playing with two Move Controllers and a PS VR headset. The movement of the Move Controllers are incredibly similar to 2019’s Beat Saber on PS4 by Beat Games. Beat Saber is one of the premiere games of PS VR, alongside Astro Bot Rescue Mission.
