I can’t attack anyone at will and suffer the consequences (though the narrative stages ample opportunities for me to kill or have mercy). Likewise, while stealth is an option, it’s usually just a means to get an upper hand on a particular foe. Once I’ve attacked—whether from cover or using an invisibility spell—every baddie in the vicinity knows I’m there. But while this is a very good game, with time I came to understand that its ambitions are a touch more humble than some recent genre heavyweights. I realised that it might be more flattering to think of Avowed as a choice-based narrative-driven action game.

At the time of this writing—two weeks after launch—all signs already point to the Switch 2 being a mega mushroom-sized success. People worldwide turned up on launch day in record numbers—many even attending midnight launches—to buy Nintendo’s new game system. Nintendo’s already shattered global sales records with over 3.5 million Switch 2 units sold within its first four days of going on sale.
And speaking of the new magnetic attachment system—the SL and SR buttons tucked inside of each Joy-Con 2 are now larger, clickier, and made of metal. Additionally, while the U-shaped kickstand on the Switch 2 doesn’t span the entire length of the backside like it does on the Switch OLED, it’s at least not the flimsy gumstick-sized one on the original Switch. We’re also glad to see the 3.5mm headphone jack didn’t get removed, and it’s nice to have a second USB-C port on the top of the device for charging or connecting accessories, along with the one located on the bottom. The built-in speakers are also audibly louder and fuller, producing clearer sound at higher volume levels compared to the crackling tinniness you got on the original Switch. This also all applies to handheld mode, but everything looks a little blurrier for some reason, especially when boosting, making it the less ideal option compared to playing the game on the TV while docked.

However, VRR is inexplicably tied to handheld mode, and it isn’t available when docked and connected to a TV or monitor. Apparently, with a $450 Switch 2 that has just enough new hardware upgrades and nothing too wacky.
While its first few hours show real promise, The Precinct quickly bogs down in repetition, lackluster storytelling, and frustrating design choices that make law enforcement feel more like a chore than a calling. You may not have expected to see a turn-based tactics TMNT game, and especially not from one of the most prolific indie teams of the last few years. Mario Kart World strengthens the series with an interconnected open-world twist that brings fresh energy to its beloved formula.
To a T is weird to its bones, and it’s clear Uvula takes great pride in that. The whole thing is nebulous by design, and isn’t so much a grand gesture of positivity as it is an ode to the little quirks you love almost without realizing. I love, for instance, the way Teen’s umbrella is slightly wider than his mother’s to account for being held at arm’s reach. That might not sound like the sort of profundity a recommendation could hinge upon, but if you like rain for the same reason I do – the warmth and contentment it brings when you’re on the inside looking out – then perhaps you’ll get it. If you’re a fan of Vampire Survivors and its ilk, you’re going to want to play Soulstone Survivors, out now on PC and consoles. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a solid fighting game compilation but an even better example of game preservation done right. Futuristic Switch 2 exclusive racing game Fast Fusion is plenty of fun, but a couple of missteps keep it from reaching its full potential. The sequel would be even bigger than the first, with a humongous open-world to explore with hundreds of hours of side quests to pursue, all while reliving the events of Final Fantasy 7. Calling Daggerheart a “D&D killer” is looking at it from the wrong angle. It celebrates the best parts of D&D while also not having to worry about legacy mechanics and earlier editions. Daggerheart stands on the shoulders of giants to climb to bigger battles and brighter adventures ahead. You can access the settings from the pause menu while in-game, or at the bottom left of the main menu before you join a server. From the accessibility menu, you can toggle on and off camera shakes, controller rumble, and motion blur.
